Psalm 119:40

Psalm 119:40

New International Version (NIV)
40 How I long for your precepts!
    In your righteousness preserve my life.

The Message:
See how hungry I am for your counsel;
    preserve my life through your righteous ways!

  1. I like the phrase "preserve my life". When you think of preserving something, you take really good care of it so it lasts and can be shared with other generations. Think of how God preserves our life so that we can make change and affect others in the next generations. We all have someone(s) in our life that we can say that affected our lives.

  2. I read this quote today that said, "If you want to know where your heart is, look where your mind wanders." That quote came back to me as I read the Message version of today's verse..I want to find myself hungry for God's counsel. I also read a devotional today that was speaking about Luke 13 and our call to repentance. I was challenged by what she said after a sad week with the bombings in Boston and the explosion in Texas she wondered how much time in the last week was spent reading articles, watching the news, and engaging in conversations regarding these events and how that compared to the time we've spent in God's Word and on our knees crying out to God in repentance? Something to think about.....am I longing for God's precepts and allowing Him to preserve my life in righteousness? Or am I neglecting God's Word?
