Psalm 119:57-64
The Message (MSG)
57-64
Because you have satisfied me, God, I promise
to do everything you say.
I beg you from the bottom of my heart: smile,
be gracious to me just as you promised.
When I took a long, careful look at your ways,
I got my feet back on the trail you blazed.
I was up at once, didn’t drag my feet,
was quick to follow your orders.
The wicked hemmed me in—there was no way out—
but not for a minute did I forget your plan for me.
I get up in the middle of the night to thank you;
your decisions are so right, so true—I can’t wait till morning!
I’m a friend and companion of all who fear you,
of those committed to living by your rules.
Your love, God, fills the earth!
Train me to live by your counsel.
ח Heth
57
You are my portion, Lord;
I have promised to obey your words.
58
I have sought your face with all my heart;
be gracious to me according to your promise.
59
I have considered my ways
and have turned my steps to your statutes.
60
I will hasten and not delay
to obey your commands.
61
Though the wicked bind me with ropes,
I will not forget your law.
62
At midnight I rise to give you thanks
for your righteous laws.
63
I am a friend to all who fear you,
to all who follow your precepts.
64
The earth is filled with your love,Lord;
teach me your ways.
teach me your ways.
I loved Sunday School class today. It lead me to asking my grandson on the phone today what his favorite Psalm is and he immediately said Ps. 1. This set of verses from PS. 119 reminded me of PS. 1. If we delight in God's Word it is easier to find good friends who will help us walk with the Lord, but if we walk or hang out with those who neglect the Word, we will find ourselves neglecting it too.
ReplyDeleteTo me Psalms reminds me of the ups and downs of life and how to stay focused on God.
