Psalm 119:56

Psalm 119:56

New International Version (NIV)
56 This has been my practice:
    I obey your precepts.

The Message:

Still, I walk through a rain of derision
because I live by your Word and counsel.

  1. I had to look up the word "derision" and found scorn, mockery, and contempt. This verse tells me that I will experience derision all around me like rain because I live by God's counsel. Not a rosie picture, but a true picture it is. The Wednesday noon study of Hebrews 11 lists people in the Bible that "by faith" they still accomplished so much even though the world scorned and made mockery of them. A true example of what "faith" can do to change lives.

  2. Amen, Susan! Thanks for looking up derision, so I don't have to now! It is so important as a Christian to make it a practice to put God's Word into our minds and hearts every day! Then as James reminds us we are not merely supposed to hear the Word, but also DO what it says or OBEYit.
